Amy Blavin

My name is Amy and I am a 53 year old mother of 4. I’m an avid runner and exercise enthusiast. I also have a serious meditation practice. I find exercise and meditation to be the foundation of wellbeing. Nothing has been more humbling than being a mother. My children each have their own mental health profile. Their diagnoses are a broad range of Bipolar disorder, Personality Disorders, NVLD, Asperger’s Syndrome and ADHD. With deep gratitude to NAMI-NYC, I was able to come out of the feeling of isolation with their warm and inclusive parent support groups. I have been able to take courses and have been referred to an organization called Family Connections that has improved my life significantly. NAMI-NYC has given me a supportive and understanding family along with incredible tools to navigate life with loved ones living with serious mental illness.
