Deepak Penesetti MD is a Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist by way of the Mount Sinai Triple Board Program in New York City. He is the CEO of SessionTogether and a Chair for Health Equity at the American Psychiatric Association.

He’s served as a National Institute of Health (NIH) Pre-doctoral Research Fellow at New York University’s Child Study Center and his work has been published in leading scientific journals including JAMA, Cerebral Cortex, and the American Association of Medical Colleges.

He was the recipient of the 2016 APA SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) Award where he now heads the Fellowship Selection Committee. He was appointed to the American Psychiatric Association’s Council for Communication and most recently to the Scientific Program Committee.

He is now on a mission to help the people who don’t make it to his office.

As a first-generation American, he has a particularly deep interest in fighting stigma that disproportionately affects communities of color.

He has helped support NAMI-NYC over the past 3 years thinking creatively about ways to use media, influencers and technology to expand their essential peer support services. He looks forward to working collaboratively within NAMI-NYC and with other public mental health leaders to help serve a community he proudly calls home.
