Parent Matching Program

Parenting a child, adolescent, or young adult with a mental health or behavioral health issue can be isolating and overwhelming. NAMI-NYC’s Parent Matching Program provides free, one-on-one emotional support from one parent to another by telephone. The program will match you with the parent of a child, adolescent, or young adult (up to age 28) with a similar diagnosis or challenges – someone who has “been there.”

Parent mentors will:

  • Provide emotional support.
  • Listen to your story.
  • Share experiences.
  • Share ideas for taking care of yourself.
  • Share ideas for advocating for your child across systems.

To get started, contact the Helpline at 212-684-3264 or via email, and ask for a parent match.
