After a decade of mostly running for fun, I will be running my first NYC Marathon in 2022, and I’m proud to be doing it in support of a cause that’s so important to me. Having watched some of those closest to me struggle with mental illness, I knew from the start that I wanted to run for NAMI-NYC. I’m running the Marathon to raise awareness for mental health issues and honor those we’ve lost. I can’t think of a better way to do that given how essential running has been for managing my own mental health. Through this process, I hope to meet and connect with people with similar experiences, find some closure, and to become more involved in the NAMI-NYC community. It’s going to be an emotional day. I can’t wait.
